Enchanted Moodboard

Here is my character design mood-board for my short animation called Enchanted. Tim Burton is my favourite director and I adore his artwork. I love the dark Gothic fairytale style. When I was researching what style I was going for, my first thought was Tim Burton, vampires and Victorian. I adore the Victorian fashion with the tight corsets and dramatic skirts. I'm addicted to the vampire diaries at the moment so that's why vampire fashion came to mind. For the characters appearance, I'm thinking big eye, pale skin with dark flowing hair. In the color palette I want there to be a contrast between dark and light which would link to the theme, good vs evil. We shall see how our characters shall look soon enough. Until next time! Solemates Moodboard

Here is the mood-board for my animation called Solemates. I'm going for a sweet pastel color palette which suggests a romantic atmosphere/ theme. In my head I'm already thinking ahead and trying to figure out how I'm going to create the world and characters. My main question is what material am I going to use. My first idea was to have a comic book style to this short animation because it would make it easier when animating it. My second idea was to have a paper style to it. I.e The world and characters are made out of paper. For the background style I researched old Disney classics like Snow white and Sleeping beauty because I liked the art style. The detail is stunning and realistic. I can't wait for the next stage which will sketching, drawing, painting. Once I have planned what the characters and stage will look like, then it will be time to create the storyboard.

Hey, hi, hello!


 My name is Katie Whelan and welcome to my little blog. I'm using this blog to document my personal projects that I create outside of college because let's be real, you gotta be organised to get shit done. Sorry for the language. Are you allowed curse on here? Oh well! As the kids say, YOLO and all that jazz. Anyway I'm using this platform to communicate with future Katie and everyone knows communication is super important in any project. Even if you're working alone.
Right now it's the middle of summer and my goal is to create as much content that's at a professional standard before I go back to college. I have the month of August to create these projects because right now I'm stuck in the magical land called retail. The next two weeks will be spent organising schedules and milestones for each project. I decided that the deadline is the 6th of September because college starts around then and it's one of my lucky numbers. So no pressure future Katie and good luck!
